ZekeUltra is from Delaware and one of my favorite artists from the creative underground rap world. Dude has a bunch of releases at this point, go back and check them out. I remember really liking his EP "A Piece Apart" but honestly he gets better every time I check in with him. And this new jam in no way disappoints...
HIs half mumble stream of consciousness style of rap seems to come in and out of the music as it remains low in the mix floating barely over the lofi warped and warbely beats and loops, almost forcing you to focus on what he's saying. Something very intimate, cozy and sentamental about the listening experience. Never met ZekeUltra but I feel like I know him.
Definitely the son of Earl Sweatshirt, Madlib and Stones Throw Records in general, but also sounding like his own new thing. I really dig this record, it's been on a contsant loop since I heard it first last week. The production was cool and interesting and for me... "Good Company", "All Fate", "Heads High" and "22" featuring Kapwani were all highlights. Three thumbs up from me and I think Axl likes it too.
