Before I start this record review I must confess, I do like Sublime. I’ve finally come to terms with it, stopped being embarrassed by it yet I'm also fully aware that they are one of the worst bands I like. I think it's them and Lil Peep for a tie of worst artists I like. On paper Sublime look like a terrible idea… a bunch of tweaker white dudes from Long Beach doing a punk ska band with a healthy dose of white reggae and hip hop thrown in. That’s never a recipe to win in my book. But despite logic and knowing better, I still dig em. And I think Bradley Nowell just had that something, that star power or whatever you wanna call it - I just say he was cool - so he was able to rise above the terrible genre of music he made. Dude was able to get away with shit most white boys can’t and nothing proves that quite like this tribute comp does where you can hear a bunch of kooks from shittier bands making Bradley’s songs worse with the living members of Sublime.

Now as much as I like Sublime, I would tell anyone I love and care about that came to me with the idea of making this tribute comp to not do it. File this shit under "not necessary". It's just super crazy to me that this was the brain child of grown adults and people paid their rent making this pile of dogshit. Seems like a scam to me but let’s get real on this shit….

So... have you ever wanted to hear the dude from Pennywise give Sublime songs that early 2000’s Epitaph records feel? Or have you ever been curious what G Love and Special Sauce along with their unique flavor of sucking would sound like butchering Sublime songs? Ever wondered what Jack Johnson would make "Garden Grove" sound like if he sang it like a total pussy? Or How about the dude from Avail doing Santeria? Nope? Never wanted to hear any of that? Yeah me neither cuz I’m not wack but let’s pretend you had.... Well friends, then this is the comp for you. Never before have you been able to hear just how talented Bradley actually was, just listen to all these goons fuck up his tunes. He would be stoked boys you’re making him look pretty good.

Now I didn't make it all the way to the end of the album but i listened to enough of it to get the idea. I did think The Vandals take on “Ball and Chain” was fun. But all in all this was a total disgrace for everyone involved, y’all should be embarrassed and do cooler shit. It’s ok to turn projects down if they’re stupid. Sublime has three full length records, let’s just let it live there. No more Sublim eprojects, thanks boys.
