This shit came out in 2023 but it's gonna be new still to most of you so chill.

Amantes del Futuro is Immanuel Miralda and he hails from Mexico City. And to be frank, this dude is the Michael Jordan of his genre! Pay close attention here folks if you like bangers! Amantes del Futuro was my main gateway into this new exciting world of modern cumbia, and really just latin music as a whole. I always tell people who haven't heard it that this stuff is heavily influenced by hip-hop, DJ Screw with the pitched vocals and just DJ culture in general. But to me it really just sounds like 2025 to me.

My favorite tracks are "Cumbia Lenta", "Cómo Dice?", "Ven a Bailar", "Cultura Sonidera" and "Cumbia Marrón". But honestly I can play any song off any of his three full lengths when I'm DJing and people will come ask me what it is. You can't really go wrong, just dive in and get ready for your new obsession.

My favorite album by Amantes del Futuro is by far the orange one, Sabor Sónico. It's the first one I heard and every song is a banger. "Kumbiatitlân" is the second record and it's cool in a totally different way than these other two cuz it’s the darker more dissonant record, I love that one too. But honestly all three are classics chock full of bangers that you need ASAP!

Up until this year Amantes del Futuro hadn't come to America yet and you couldn't find his records in store so I'd been mail ordering all his records on vinyl directly through him via the DMs on Instagram. Now that he's been here you can at least find them in local record stores (but they are not cheap fam).

And now here's the part where I brag cuz i gotta mention how dope it was that we were able to have him to perform this past Oct 26th at Lost Angeles our art space in downtown LA alongside other amazing artists like Turbo Sonidero (check out their LP "Lowrider Kumbias" also a must hear), Isidro Cuevas y Willy Cabanas (a side project / collab project of Amantes Del Futuro who also have two solid albums you should hear), OG Ganas (organizer of the Mas Exitos events in Los Angeles - co-owner of the Discos Rolas label), Xandao (co-owner of the Discos Rolas label) and Marvelouz. It fucking ruled!

Cumbia is the new punk.
